T3 Motion recently announced the completion of its Three Wheeled Electric Vehicle Prototype “The R3″ that can accommodate two-passenger with a detachable Android-based Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet in its dashboard. This tablet will act as In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) computer with plug-ins, offering navigation, entertainment, and vehicle diagnostic monitoring for this three-wheeled R3 series. The Galaxy Tab runs Android 2.2 on a 1GHz Cortex-A8 processor, seven inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, a three-megapixel camera, front-facing video cam and Wireless features including 802.11n, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, and 3G with voice telephony. The three wheeled R3 Series offers a top speed of 70 ~ 120 mph and features an AC induction motor powered by lithium-polymer battery technology that has a range of 80 ~ 100 miles per charge & multi-link dual-shock rear suspension similar to Formula One racing cars. It is built with a proprietary rear-wheel design incorporating a patent-pending, wide-stance wheel with dual tires sharing a single wheel. The design of back-wheel is to improve traction, stability and handling, while the “low rolling resistance and rounded profile” of the rear tires is touted as increasing energy efficiency. Due to its unique three-wheeled design, the R3 is classified as a motorcycle and will be priced between $25,000 and $35,000.
